Five Reasons Your Business Website Needs a Redesign
Whether it’s looking for inspiration for a current project, reviewing a site for a potential client, or just for my own personal use, part of my daily routine is to browse the internet. In doing so I’ve come to the conclusion that there is one question that more people should be asking themselves: “How do I know if my website needs a redesign?” Shameless plug here, but you could always call the experts at AJG Interactive for a free consultation at (702) 518-6574. However, if you’re the type that likes to do your homework first, we can help with that, too. We have put together a list of the top five reasons you should be considering a redesign of your website.
Did you know that if your website takes longer than three seconds to load, statistically 53% of your customers will abandon your website and move on to a competitor to find what they are looking for? For this stat alone, speed is a major contributing factor, however it is overlooked 85% of the time. There are many factors that play into the speed of your website: the type of website, hosting, DNS, connection, new vs. returning user, and on and on. . . . To get an idea of where your website stands, take this free 10-second test on us, and let the results speak for themselves.
Sites Per Server
It’s Not Responsive
What exactly is a responsive website? It’s a website that will adapt to any size screen, so that one website looks the same on your desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone. With mobile devices and tablets taking up almost 50% of the market share, it is imperative that your website be responsive for all devices. In addition, having a mobile-specific website is an automatic failure and a sign that you need to join us in the year 2018.
It’s Hurting Your SEO
If your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts are failing no matter what combinations of keywords and content you try, this may be a great time to redesign your website. Many people think that SEO is all keywords and algorithms, but SEO really starts with the code that drives your website. Just like with a home, a strong foundation is required to build upon for long-lasting success, and SEO is no different. There are many factors that play into your ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs) before a single keyword is ever mentioned.
It’s . . . Dumb
I know what you’re thinking: how can a website be dumb? What we refer to at AJG Interactive as a dumb site, many would refer to as informational, with standard features like name, address, hours, and some pictures. However, your website can do so much more than that. Your website can think, it can perform tasks, it can process jobs, and it can be tailored to take on custom-use cases. Imagine your website managing your inventory, populating your morning statistics, or even automating your data entry. These are all things that a SMART website can do.
The look and feel of your website is a touchy subject for many. On one hand, you need to capture your brand, yet on the other you need to appeal to customers within your demographic. This is a delicate balance that many fail to get right, and those who do still fight to prevent becoming stale. My advice here is to not judge this one yourself; ask a group of your peers to field this one and be honest. Is your website visually pleasing? Is it easy to use? Are the calls-to-action clear? If any of these were not a solid “YES,” or if your website has looked the same for 2-3 years, it’s time for that facelift!
